BALKANISTIC WORLDS is an interdisciplinary academic journal dedicated to the study of the Balkans and the Black Sea region in their historical, cultural, linguistic, and social dimensions. It brings together scholars from diverse disciplines — including history, sociology, literature, anthropology, linguistics, and cultural studies — who explore the region within both European and broader global contexts.
The Editorial Board consists of distinguished academics from Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, Turkey, the United States, Serbia, France, the Czech Republic, Canada, Azerbaijan, Greece, and Georgia. The journal provides an open forum for scholarly dialogue, encouraging critical engagement with contemporary and historical issues that shape the identity and dynamics of the region.
Our mission is to promote understanding, dialogue, and peace across the Balkans and Europe, while maintaining respect for cultural diversity and freedom of expression.
BALKANISTIC WORLDS is published three times a year by the Association “Balkanistic Forum – International University Seminar for Research and Specialisation.”
The Association is an independent, voluntary, non-political, and non-profit organisation committed to advancing interdisciplinary and comparative research on South-Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region at both national and international levels.
